The Doctorate in Science in Physical Sciences requires students to pass both Graduate and Online programs in order to earn the graduate degree. The Doctorate in Physics programs prepare students to apply the scientific method to solve problems in a variety of physical sciences.
Students interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in Physical Sciences at UC San Diego may take the Graduate or Online courses in physics and pass the qualifying exams in order to earn the Master’s degree. In order to become eligible for a dissertation funding, a candidate must pass both the qualifying exams and pass the qualifying exam for the Doctorate of Philosophy in Physical Sciences in the Graduate program. A dissertation may be written in either the Doctoral Program in General Education in Science (Degree of Doctor of Education in Science), or in the Master’s Program in Physical Sciences in the Graduate Program in Science.
Graduate programs offer opportunities for students interested in becoming a professional or faculty member in the field of physical sciences.
