The first thing to do is make sure you know what kind of answer you are giving. Are you answering the yes or the no question? Do you really know the answer, or are you just giving yourself a piece of mind? If you can answer every single question on the 20-question test, then a hundred thousand dollars will not fall from the sky. But, you have a better chance of earning that million as a real chemist!
It may not be a very difficult question to answer, but it still has to be answered properly. There are a few tips to make your answers more effective:
First of all, do your research. There are many different chemistry quizzes that you can take, so do not get caught up in the hype. There are also some websites that offer free online chemistry tests, but they are usually quite low quality.
Second, ask yourself this question. What is the purpose of taking the quiz? Is it just to show you how much you know, or does it tell you about the actual test? It will be a waste of time to waste all those hours practicing on a test that does not even matter! The best way to know whether you really need the quiz is to answer a question you have not seen before.
Third, have an idea of what questions you would like answering. Is it your favorite animal? Or, is it your favorite kind of paint?
Fourth, ask yourself how many people you would like to answer the questions for. If it is only you, then you may have the last say in the question you answer. If it is the whole class, then you will probably need to find some other way of getting everyone’s answers.
Fifth, always think before you write your answer. It is a good idea to write a short answer first, and then write the whole answer when you have finally answered all the questions. and have a good grasp of the whole thing. This way, you will know exactly what you have to write when the quiz is due.
Sixth, try to be as organized as possible. If you are not able to finish it within the allotted time, don’t worry. Write down the information you did not understand, and keep a list of questions to ask. Keep notes of the question that you think you may have got wrong, and what you thought you already knew. Once you have done that, try again.
Seventh, try to make your questions as relevant as possible. When taking a chemistry quiz, try to give answers that would actually help someone if they were struggling with the questions. For example, if you are not sure of how something works, you may want to try a question like “what do you think the most effective way to remove a stain is”. Just make sure you actually answer the question in an interesting and informative way!
The final tip is probably the most important one. If you are not sure about the answer that you are giving, make sure you do not skip reading the answer that you are giving, because chances are, it is going to be important later.
Make sure that you read over your answer before leaving the room. The last thing you want to do is to leave a room and come back and find out that you did not get the answer right. It is always best to be able to give accurate answers. The exam is not over until you are proud of what you wrote.
Lastly, you can try a quick refresher after completing the test. If you don’t really understand the answer, but know you got the answer correct, do not hesitate to take another one, and make sure you understand it!
